About our garments and health information

Kulakit garments are made from a densley woven nylon-lycra fabric which has been laboratory tested to eliminate over 97.5% of harmful UV rays. This  equates to a SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of 50+ which exceeds both the British  and Australian standards.
Please note that when the fabric is stretched or wet, its SPF may be reduced. However, the high protective qualities of the fabric in its original state allow for this reduction and the level of  protection offered when a suit is wet or stretched is still very high.
We have used a range of brightly contrasting colours designed not only to look good but also to be easily spotted on a crowded beach!

Most cases of skin cancer could be easily prevented

UV protective clothing cuts out a high proportion of the sun's UV rays, reducing the risk of sunburn

Such protective wear provides a practical and fun alternative to traditional sunburn  prevention

The  cause of skin cancer is nearly always overexposure to ultraviolet radiation from the sun or a sunbed.

There  are two main types of rays from the sun: UVA and UVB

Too  much UVB causes sunburn and this damage to the skin can result in skin  cancer

UVA  also causes skin damage and there is some evidence to suggest that it can lead to skin cancer

Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK

The  number of cases increases every year and has doubled in the past 20 years

Ultraviolet radiation is reflected off light coloured surfaces,  especially water, sand and snow

You  can still get sunburnt through light cloud or under shallow water

Children are particularly vulnerable with their young, sensitive skins
